Bruno Mettling, President of OMEA (Orange Middle East and Africa), presented this point.

Orange confirms its presence in Africa with the creation of a wholly owned African subsidiary. The aim is that it can self-finance its projects, and will no longer have to rely on the funds advanced by the Group for its development. This has been made possible by the consolidation of our presence in each of the countries of the continent and by the good results.

The headquarters of this new holding will be located in Africa, Morocco, Casablanca, and top management will be held by African colleagues. Bruno Mettling will then have non-executive functions, Alioune Ndiaye, current CEO of Sonatel, will take the reins of the Group’s activities in the area.

Starting from connectivity operator, we evolve towards a multi-services operator by developing structuring growth relays such as Orange Money, Orange Energy with solar, in agriculture, education, digitalization of companies, health with Orange Healthcare. This diversification of activities can be achieved through the development of partnerships.

Some figures show the considerable evolution of activity in Africa, from 2010 to today:
– from 62 million customers to 130 million today
– 1 African out of 10 is at Orange
– 1 African out of 100 is a very high speed services user
Mobile Data and Orange Money represent more than one billion euros, or 20% of our consolidated turnover.

The creation of the Africa Middle East subsidiary will be organized by the Kilimanjaro program on which Bruno Mettling remained rather evasive. We know that this project is structured around five major projects:

Adapt our business model to the challenges of the continent

Agilize the chain of innovation and the implementation of growth drivers

Capitalize better on expertise and diversity

Aim towards an entrepreneurial modem to attract talent and skills

Anchoring Orange as a key economic and societal player in the MEA area

Beyond the obvious passion of the speaker for his subject, the members of the World Works Council appreciated that the group is still developing its international dimension while appearing less Franco-French. Nevertheless, Bruno Mettling remained vague about the concrete implementation of this program under development. The elected representatives have also made a request for the holding of a special World Works Council dedicated to Kilimanjaro project. The question of the durability of employment remains central, Kilimanjaro should not be the false nose of a centralization of jobs in Africa before outsourcing…

[French version here/English version below] Dans le cadre du Comité Groupe Monde des 11, 12 et 13 avril 2018 à Casablanca au Maroc, la Direction a inscrit un point à […]

[118

post-9091","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-comite-groupe-europe-monde
{"118":
["GET
